Reviews for "There to Here"

"...From the first strum of his guitar, I was hooked. You could hear a pin drop throughout the 20 minute performance. He mesmerized the audience, everyone's eyes transfixed on stage, holding their breath, waiting for the next soulful sound of his voice to pleasure us, his rhythmic, entrancing guitar to seduce us. (Rogr) Lee is a modern day Bob Dylan. His lyrics are poetic. They speak of love, life, family, hurt, belief...all in this wonderfully acoustic package. Congas, mandolin, accordion, clarinet, guitars and sweet harmonies will take you through a wide range of emotions, both lyrically and musically. I really like the way (Rogr) plays on words, twisting ideas into something tangible. ("There to Here") is on permanent play in my record collection."
-Cherelle Jardine, Pacific Songwriters Association

"Finally I gave a good listen to (Rogr) Lee. He's a folk musician with a lot to give to that realm. Sure I might have a little white trash in me, and I confess to being heavily influenced by Al Purdy, but I like this guy. He reminds me of a (Stephen) Fearing or a (James) Keelaghan. Lee is a strong player, and I imagine that he's invested great time into his performance. The lyrics raise the spirit of those who love life and the present moment. I imagine (Rogr) Lee is most happy wearing a three-day beard, holding an Ontario-micro beer, and being in a room full of similar people to that mindset. If this guy is playing clubs (and I hope he is), he'd be worth your patronage."
- Michael A. Johnson, Storefront Paper

"A beautifully-produced, technically near-perfect, thoughtfully-written, musically clean and competent folk-roots album"
- Heather Kelly T.O. Nite

The CD's lead track, Tiny Cup, Big Ocean, was the
First Prize Winner of the "Songs From The Heart" competition sponsored by The Ontario Council of Folk Festivals and SOCAN

professional background:

For over a decade Rogr Lee performed extensively as a solo act, an accompanyist (Bonnie Ste-Croix), and a band-member (Glen Dias with the Polarity Bears). He was both a troubadour and a concert artist. He might one day return to it... Rogr has also contributed songs and/or vocals on recordings by Glen Dias, Ana Coutinho (John Switzer, producer), Mardi Jayde, and Jeff White (CBC Records feature artist), and has had work produced by Jack Lenz, Noah Zacharin, Gregg Lawless and Gadi Foltys. Rogr has made numerous appearances on public radio and television stations in Toronto, Ottawa, Sudbury and Vancouver. In 2002 "The Rocky Dino Opera", with Rogr as composer and musical director, brought activist street theater to the Vancouver Fringe Festival, and attracted two of the festival's largest audiences!

Rogr's most recent CDs "Sexing Up th' Case for War" and "RoGr LeE's ThREe-dAY AlBUm" are entirely self-produced, and artfully address topics like global warming, consumerism, spirituality and activism. Using acoustic and contemporary soundscapes, imaginative arrangements and poetics, Rogr's work remains compelling and true.
